Other headache racks also include the contactor rack, which has a heavy frame and goalpost-type vertical uprights for carrying long cargo such as ladders and pipes, and steel mesh headache rack, which has uses steel mesh on a heavy duty frame to protect the rear window from shifting loads.
Although most of the headache racks available on the market today are coated with a special finish, they can still be prone to scratches and corrosion. Damaged and corroded headache racks can cause more harm than good on the truck, and must be replaced immediately.
